Government control of the American health care system has been the preeminent goal of the
American Left for generations. Due to their expansive majorities in both chambers of Congress,
the Obama-Pelosi-Reid alliance was able to force its health care agenda on the American people
despite vigorous, vocal and consistent opposition.
• Obama-Care will cost taxpayers more than $1.2 trillion in the first ten years it is fully
implemented.
• President Obama used his recess appointment power to make Donald Berwick the head of
the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Obama was forced to recess appoint
Berwick because the Senate would never confirm Berwick due to his extreme views.
• Although the President mocked conservatives who warned Obama-Care would lead to
rationing, Dr. Berwick is an avowed fan of rationing and says, “The decision is not whether
or not we will ration care. The decision is whether we will ration with our eyes open.”
• In the end, Obama-Care will lead to a complete Washington takeover of our health care if it
isn’t repealed and replaced with real patient-centered reform.
