Runaway government spending remains the central threat to the nation’s economic woes.
Spending has been endemic of both political parties and it is dangerous to characterize the
struggle to limit government as a Democrat vs. Republican battle. Serious structural changes
must be made to the government’s role in the economy.
• Despite claims that the $862 stimulus package would keep unemployment below 8 percent,
the country has continued to struggle and unemployment went over 10 percent.
The stimulus failed and our children will be left paying for President Obama’s wasteful
experiment.
• President Obama’s 2010 budget makes a mockery of fiscal responsibility.
Obama wants us to believe he’s concerned about the deficit, but his 2010 budget:
o Borrows 42 cents for every dollar spent
o Runs a $1.6 trillion deficit (for only one year)
o Projects the national debt to over $18 trillion
o Spends $36,000 for every household
• On average, private sector employees made $61,051 in 2009, which is less than half of
what the average federal civilian employee made ($123,049) in the same calendar year.
